Greetings,
this post is intended for readers and writers alike - for everyone who votes on the pieces submitted to the Short Contest category. Voting of course works the same way as it does everywhere else on the site. You read, you vote, you are the judge, and your voting rules apply as much as the next voter’s.
However, because this category includes guidelines that writers need to follow, you should keep them in mind when voting. If a writer has disregarded the special tags or the word limit, you should take it into consideration. Maybe the piece was so eloquent, so wonderful, that you choose to put it in first place anyway. That, as a voter, is your prerogative. But maybe you feel that as great as the piece was, the writer should have followed the guidelines - and then you can vote accordingly.
Comments on these pieces can include your opinions on the writer’s ability to smoothly include special tags or their disregard for the guidelines.
Happy voting!
