I can’t grasp how to use this board. Can you say how one submits a story and why can one only read two stories in the workshop?  Are you not allowed to put a story in one of the threads below?

You are allowed to read only two stories until you have indicated which one is better.  After that, you can read a third one, and indicate where it stands relative to the other two.  After you’ve read two stories and indicated which one is better, you should see “Your Ticket” down at the bottom, and you can use that to re-order the stories you’ve read, or choose one that you haven’t read by clicking the >> widget.  Note that the >> widget next to each story can also move it to a different place “Your Ticket.”

Sorry I was kind of rushed when I wrote this, so please ask for more clarification if needed, and it’s always possible that I made a bug, so if what I described is inaccurate, point that out too.

Thanks!

This post used to only say:

I guess I didn’t answer all your questions!

The posting requirements are that make at least 5 voting decisions in the category to which you want to post.  Once you’ve submitted a story, you have to make 15 more decisions or wait until others have made 45 decisions before you can post another one (to any category).

I’m always open to suggestions on how to make it easier to understand how Litmocracy works, so let me know if you think of any.

But the rules have changed.  Now, you have to have 5 stories in your list in order to post one.  To post a second, you need to add 5 more.  There are up to 25 stories in the non-fiction and creative writing categories, and when they are full, if someone posts a new story, the lowest ranked one on the list drops off.  It no longer counts as one of the posts that requires 5 to be on the author’s list, and it no longer counts as one of the 5 that has to be on another author’s list so that they can post a story.

This way, the site demands that we participate in finding quality writing in order to post our own.

I don’t understand how to post, either. I’ve reviewed three entries, but can find no place to post a story.

What happens when you hold the mouse over the menu item at the top that says “Post”?

And Oops!  The rules above are outdated.  I will add edits to explain the new rules.

I wrote the reviews and “post a submission” came up, but when I click that, it doesn’t seem to lead me to anything that allows me to post. Also, I read another story and wanted to rate, but there seemed to be no way to that that.

One other question: what widget are you talking about? I don’t see anything like that.

On the homepage (http:/www.litmocracy.com), do you see the words “VOTE on what you like… SUBMIT your best… Vote some more… get published… Vote Again… it’s all free” at the bottom of the clouds?  Above these words there should be a series of white boxes and one of them, right about in the middle, is “Post”.  If this is different from what you see, can you tell us what kind of web browser you’re using?

There is no official way to rate a story.  If you’d like to rate a story, you can leave a comment with your rating, or reply to the initial discussion post.

If you mean that you want to vote on a story, this just means putting it into your list, and that is described here: http://www.litmocracy.com/forums/viewthread/649/

hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii,

i am prem,

You, my friend, are a Master Tape Engineer. Your reputation as the King of Stick is riding on your latest project. But the adhesive you’ve come up with is flabby and weak, the “Before” picture among compounds. It couldn’t hold two magnets together. You’re flummoxed.

I use a US advertising network that manages our ads (I use the word manage loosely) and was

thinking with one website of shifting to a NZ based ad arrangement.

Someone told me that google analytics would be inadequate and we would need to have to pay

NetRatings or some other tracking firm to provide metrics if we wanted NZ advertisers. Is

that correct?

I’m not sure if it’s the right move for this website as a high proportion of the traffic is

international. Is there a thread here that could help me with basic queries on this? e.g.

what are the usual NZ CPM rates, commissions that agencies take, advertising networks that

work with individual websites, minimum traffic volumes, how international vs NZ traffic

would be handled (such as geotargeting to serve different ads), etc.

Any tips appreciated!
