What is the author’s aesthetic (what makes the piece attractive)?

My favorite image was Pat’s hand flopping back down like a helicopter.  The spit on the floor was memorable too.

The piece is attractive because of the emotional extremes.  Maybe that’s a general thing about interesting reads, but it’s my take for now.  I’ll have to think more about aesthetics.

I think your entry will do better if it is longer.  Can you post more of the book?
