I’m leaving this open for discussion.  What do you think?

TheresaJean,

so happy you entered the contest!
Would you consider moving this to the short contest forum? No biggie - but it would be easier to find smile

Umm…ok —but how do I do that?  Is there a way to move a post or do I just do another one in short contest?

I can move it for you if you’d like - I just wanted to make sure you were ok with it smile
It can stay here if you’d prefer - just giving you the option.

Ok,

now that we’re through with technicalities and I’ve actually read the piece…

I thought it was very moving. I found your story to be candid and full of emotions - which isn’t so unusual. What was exceptional to me however is the way you rendered those emotions, and the trip you took me, the reader, on.

Thank you for this very eloquent and, in the end, hopeful story.

Because, after all, it might be hard to keep an open heart when even friends seem out to harm you, but healing a broken heart…well that’s the prize, isn’t it…

When you read your own submission, you’ll see a link at the bottom to edit it.  Once you click that link, you’ll get the publish page.  From there, you can click the Categories tab and select the categories you want to put it in.  Hold CTRL down to select the Free For All category too, if you want the public to see it.  If Free For All is not selected, then your piece will only be visible to other members.

The system automatically adds your submission to any parent categories (so if you pick Short Story, for example, it will also be in Creative Writing - whether you pick it or not.)

I thought I also put my opinion in my post…

I was a little uncomfortable reading this, but that makes me like it more.  I think I’m different from most people in that respect.  Squiggles on a page are harmless, but with the meaning, they can become psychologically toxic.  However, if the meaning of what one reads is damaging psychologically, it can also heal that damage and make the reader stronger.  Squiggles on a page can only cause permanent damage if the reader lets them, and the closing of your story really encourages the reader to become stronger.  Go Nietzsche!
