There is a row boxes at the bottom of the clouds - the Post box will open up a drop-down menu with “Creative Writing” in it, which opens another menu with “Poetry/Lyrics” in it.

hello sir,

does anyone else write specifically poetry/lyrics a lot here and if so what does it do for you and what are your experiences of it?
In my case writing basically saved me as I starting probably writing poetry and songs in hospital when I was about 13.Its a form of writing I find soothing as its full of so much in so little and anyone can take something from it. I first read “to a nightingale” by John keats when I got in the romantic poets a while ago and was amazed by it particularly because of the way it captures emotions and hypersensitivity atleast in my case…do you think poetry is a good format for capturing the feelings that aspergers brings and if so what examples stick out to you or have a special place in your heart?

Browse through the category, you’ll find some people.  “...the feelings that Asperger’s brings…” - interesting question.  I have never thought it useful to “capture” those feelings.  Describing them so that people can better understand people with Asperger’s is useful, and in that sense, no, I’d have to say poetry isn’t good for that specifically because it relies so heavily on a normal emotional response.  Asperger’s people tend to mute their emotional response, so trying to “capture” or explain their feelings using a poem would be like trying to use violence to establish peace and tranquility.  Or maybe that’s too harsh.  It would be like trying to describe your love for someone using biology and psychology.
