  • Are you proposing a new name for the Winner’s Circle, or is your suggestion that we publish a collection of blogs (taken from the Winner’s Cirlce) and use this name for it?

There’s a website called cafepress.com that will create and sell paperback books for $11.  I am considering buying the Adobe Software that will allow me to create the kind of file I need to have cafepress do that, but I don’t know how many people would want to buy a paperback for $11.

  • I am proposing both. Check out Draco’s scribe, books-on-demand. It is a printer that works in word & should be much cheaper per unit, & you only buy books as they are ordered. My suggestion would be an annual anthology until it becomes profitable. Most writers want to see there words in print, so I’d get as many different winners in there as I could, & if people know they could win money, get reviewed, & end up in a book. I would think it would help traffic, quality, & participation. Plus, I think Litmocracy in Action sounds better than winner’s circle, but I bet someone could come up with a better name than that.

  • I just sent Draco’s Scribe an email.  Thanks for the tip.  I’ll set up a category to rename Winner’s Circle.  Do you think the book should be entirely from the Short Fiction winners, or from Short Fiction, Life, and News?  If it included the winner of each category from each week, we’d have 39 entries every three months, and it could be more like a quarterly magazine with an eclectic mix of themes.

  • Actually, I think I’d rather find a new name for it like so:  Interested members can post suggested new names as comments to this entry and if and when “Litmocracy in Action” wins, the top-ranked comment will be used for the name.  This way, you can offer some of your prize, should you win it, as the carrot for a good new name.

    Does it make sense?

  • ...Works for me. It wouldn’t be a litmocracy w/out a nomination process..

  • Litmocracy Quarterly

...is the best I can think of right now.  Of course, that assumes quarterly publication.  The annual anthology might work better.  Let’s think about it for a couple months grin

  • ...Now you’re talking, Winona, snap-snap-snap, can I riff on your association…How about….Uh-Literal Translations…You take the prize, as far as I’m concerned…

  • ...I think the title for the anthology/book should be expanded, or perhaps the first issue should just be called: Literal Translations: The building of a website…
