Lorelei
Category: Poetry/LyricsEarly morning, sun and moon
sharing the same sky:
I walk the shoreline in silence,
a mantra of wavelets lapping my ankles.
And I remember
outcrops of yesterday;
a sandcastle decaying seawards,
a name crafted from shells
waiting to be cast like runes
in the next tide; your dress
slowly becoming flotsam.
And I remember
looking through salt-stung eyes,
cradling you in the water;
realizing how these dry lands
have drained you, stolen the voice
that first claimed me and choked it on the mundane.
And I remember
immersing you in the fretting surf,
your skin becoming slick with rainbow scales
and golden fins brighter than freshly minted coins.
Then you were gone.

I really like this piece! The choice of words is very thought-provoking and I enjoyed the way you spaced it. The repetition of “And I remember” is very interesting and kept me reading until the end.
As being a Newcomer, I am continually doing research for content pages that may help me .. Warm regards.
