I’m Here Because
Category: Issue 20I can’t fight fear.
It’s too primal, too old.
I saw a microscopic scream
In each alveolus in my lungs.
I’m a psychological minority.
I have “obsessive ruminations”
(That makes me giggle,
As if I’m a cow with OCD).
I don’t want the things I’m supposed to want.
I like to stop eating sometimes,
To feel my body eating itself.
I keep telling people things they don’t like:
That the soul is made of neurons
And love is a euphemism.
I know your sparkly red secrets
And sensed something;
A friend in the making.
