Rise and Shine

Category: Issue 7, Poetry/Lyrics Winners

Looking out my window
The sky is on the ground
The lawn is in the air
And all the trees are pointing down
Leaves are falling upward
As the wind begins to suck
And down there flying backward
Is a poor bewildered duck
His feathers are all ruffled
And his eyes are big as plates
He’s extremely agitated
I can certainly relate
Walking backward to the cupboard
I push out my favorite cup
It’s hard to pour the coffee
When the stream is flowing up
But I sit down on the ceiling
And I drink it pretty well
Another Monday morning
What the hell
