Song Lyric—Nagging Chicken Blues

Category: Poetry/Lyrics

NAGGING CHICKEN BLUES

Woke up this morning found a chicken in my bed
I don’t believe nothin’ that that chicken said
He said you didn’t love me
That he saw you kissing Fred
I wish I didn’t have any chickens in my head

Drove to work on Monday found a chicken in my car
Chicken tried to tell me just how bad you are
I tried not to listen
Played the radio instead
I really wish I didn’t have any chickens in my head

A chicken tried to tell me that you’re no good for me
That chicken said you’re cheatin’ and that’s no way to be
Now love has got me mixed up like a chicken fricassee
A chick chick, chick chick chicken fricassee

Went to work on Tuesday found a chicken in my chair
Tried to call my honey, chicken said you weren’t there
Sure enough you didn’t answer
Chicken said you didn’t care
I can’t seem to lose that nagging chicken anywhere

A chicken tried to tell me, it whispered in my ear
That you were unfaithful he made it very clear
That one day I would have to face you and accuse
I wish i didn’t suffer from these nagging chicken blues

That chicken says you’re cheatin’ and that’s no way to be
Now love has got me mixed up like a chicken fricassee
Like a chick chick chick chick chicken fricassee.

The Nagging Chicken Blues

Woke up Monday morning found a chicken in my bed
You’d be shocked to hear the things that stinkin’ chicken said
He said you didn’t love me
He saw you kissing Fred
I wish I didn’t have any chickens in my head

Drove to work on Tuesday found a chicken in my car
Chicken tried to tell me just how bad you are
I tried not to listen
Played the radio instead
I really wish I didn’t have any chickens in my head

By Wednesday I was crying I really had the blues
Chicken said he’s sorry to be the bearer of bad news
He said that you and Freddie
Were thinking you might wed
I begged that nagging chicken to clear out of my head

By Thursday I was dying the pain too much to take
Chicken said it was a pity you were such a fake
On Friday chicken told me
What I had to do
But if I listened to him, than you and I were through

By Saturday I’d turned into this sobbing twitching wreck
So I took that friggin’ chicken and wrung it’s scrawny neck
I fried it up with flour
In my Grandma’s recipe
I turned that nagging chicken into world class fricasee

I brought it to my baby and knocked upon her door
She ate that nagging chicken like she never ate before
She told me that she loved me
The she and Fred were friends
And this is where the story of the nagging chicken ends
