To the Simple Life
Category: Issue 5, Poetry/Lyrics Winners
The wind blows on the mountain
Where he walks in perfect peace
His heart has found a place to rest
His soul has found release
We watches from the cliffs above
His days go sailing by
With the beauty of the morning
And the beauty of the evening
And the beauty of living
Without asking why
The mountain lives within him
Rising high above his dreams
The man who stands before the world
May not be what he seems
And if you look beyond his smile
You’ll find sadness in his eyes
For the beauty of the morning
And the beauty of the evening
And the beauty of living
Without asking why
But he goes to work each morning
And he comes home every night
And he loves his wife and family
And he tries to do what’s right
And he builds his life of stone and wood
Like a tower to the sky
To the beauty of the morning
And the beauty of the evening
And the beauty of living
Without asking why
He’s really quite contented
He’s at peace with what he knows
His world is turning as it should
He lives the life he chose
He writes his dreams in prose and song
He breathes them like a sigh
To the beauty of the morning
And the beauty of the evening
And the beauty of living
Without asking why
