When This Carnival Finally Closes
Category: Issue 10When this carnival finally closes
I would have been on every ride.
I would have reached the depths
And the heights of each roller coaster.
I would have surrendered completely to each laugh and each cry.
When this carnival finally closes
I will know the taste of all the delicacies.
I would have drunk and become intoxicated from the plethora of fountains
And exchanged smiles and embraces with all
Who are celebrating with me.
When this carnival finally closes
I would have loved immensely with heart, flesh and soul.
I would have danced, danced, danced on each patch of grass, every cobblestone
With the greatest of passion.
When this carnival finally closes
Every cell of my being
Will be infused with the flames of the all magical fires that have ever burned,
All the dreams and inspirations carried in the air would have entered me,
And infused me with their messages.
All the celebrations and pleasures offered on the schedule would have been celebrated
And I would have danced, danced, danced
With the greatest of passion.
When this carnival finally closes
I will know
Because I would be all that I could possibly be in this form.
I would have explored every facet of the carnival grounds
The multitude of ways I could have fun here.
And when the music gradually softens
And the bright lights start to fade
I will know it’s time to depart.
I will listen for the sound of drums in the distance
Beckoning me.
And I will dance, dance, dance
With the greatest of passion
To the grand carnival beyond.
