“Sunrise” is a 4 stanza Haiku.  I am just starting to dip my toes into the real world of writing, feeling things out.

I guess I haven’t read enough poetry.  I recognize haikus easily enough, but it never crossed my mind to connect several of them together for a theme, or, for example, to cover a day using heavenly bodies as you’ve done.  I think I’ve even seen it done before, but thought “well that’s not what haikus are for”.  What an idiot I was.

What do you like about poetry?

I like poems that meet many constraints at once.  For example, haikus that rhyme are really cool.  Acrostic poems are cool too.  When I read something like “Sunrise again comes”, which sounds so much better to me as “Sunrise comes again”, it clues me to look for other constraints that are being followed.  But if you chose the word order for a reason, I haven’t found it yet.
