Issue 8 ushers in the New Year
Issue 8 of Literal Translations is currently being printed.  If you ordered a copy, you should receive it some time in January.  I hope you enjoyed 2007 with Litmocracy.  We’re looking forward to another successful year.

World Audience’s Ernest Dempsey has asked me to let everyone know that World Audience is offering “Audience Buzz” which “carries a number of interesting items for lovers of literature.” If you find the back issues interesting, or if you just want to get future issues, please sign up here.

The 80/20 Rule by our own John Bruce has been accepted at Written Word Magazine.  Congratulations John!

Facebook and Litmocracy
Do you have a Facebook account?  Litmocracy is sponsoring the Better Poll application there, which is looking for good poll ideas and then allowing their creators to run them.  The Better Poll application uses the same ranking logic that Litmocracy uses.  It is, in fact, another attempt of mine to demonstrate the value of the technology.  Consider this an invitation to hook up with Litmocracy on Facebook, although this isn’t necessary for you to use Better-Poll.

Simpler Litmocratic Voting
You will soon have access to a new simplified web page at Litmocracy.  I am, as usual, describing my plans so that member feedback will be able to bend and or break my plans before I forge ahead.  The page will present Your Ticket and enable you to add submissions from all categories to it, one at a time (just like the Facebook application does).  This will give you an opportunity to reconsider pieces that you haven’t read in a while.  The problems I’m trying to solve are A) Voter Turnout, and B) the lack of competition between submissions in one category against submissions in another category.

Pairwise voting ("Which is better?") is something I added a long time ago because I thought it would help with Voter Turnout, but it does not seem to do that, so it will eventually go away.  On the new page, each time you add a submission to Your Ticket, you’ll be presented with the next one.  Posting requirements will be met by having enough submissions in Your Ticket.
