Okay - I’m still new here, but I have to say that I love the site.  I really want to see it fly!  So far I have really enjoyed reading all of the wonderful work that people have posted - information, ideas, and emotions I would not have been exposed to if I hadn’t stumbled upon Litmocracy; on top of that, I have been able to share my own (sometimes feeble) attempts at creation, I even have a chance at winning money and being published...we ALL do.  I don’t want to step on anybodies toes, or put a thorn in anyones side; but I have a question....

Where IS everybody.  Maybe people don’t understand what a forward moving idea this site is based on; maybe you don’t understand the amount of work and dedication the builders of this site have put into it.  Maybe, just maybe, you don’t have confidence that it will be here next year, or that it will live up to its promises.

But here is the beautiful part - it’s up to YOU to make it work.  There is no site without artists/students/readers/people willing to sit down and take a little time.  “I don’t have anything to post” you say?—so comment on something you read; after all, everybody loves (and needs) to hear that someone paid attention.  “I don’t know what to put in a comment” you say?...well...."I liked that, it made me feel happy” is a comment that could make the writers day!  Didn’t like it - that’s okay too!  Just.....say SOMETHING —post, comment, forums, vent, question, whatever trips off your fingertips onto your keyboard.

I know there is a very dedicated group of people working very hard to get this site perfected.  There are hitches here and there, but they are amazing at working them out.  THEY are willing to back the wonderful idea of this site, but they need you to help them along.

So — look a little down and to the left, click reply, and type something.  You might even find out that it feels good.  You might even find that you want to type more...and make comments....and post something.  You never know what could happen grin

Ok seriously,

wow. And thanks. and wow. And um....

HEY EVERYONE!!! READ THIS POST!!

over, and over, and over again until you click that reply button to say something…

TheresaJean - you’ve got the idea. And thanks for posting it. I think it’s great that it comes from a ‘newbie’, because really, that IS what the site is all about. Thank you for having the courage to post this even though you *thought* you might step on someone’s toes.

I’m guilty myself - been off the site for a while. But if everyone had the same idea, we’d be a relay team and Litmocracy would never be ‘dropped’.

Thanks for the post. I’m going to reply here often so it stays up there and everyone can see it.

Anyone reading this - please reply. I don’t care what you write - here’s a challenge for all Litmocracy members - I want to see 10 pages worth of comments on this post by January 1st.

Are you up to the challenge?

We’ll see.

- Star

Hey Theresa,

How goes it? We’re working out the kinks slowly and I’m trying to whip you up some more work!

Wow - I have been away from the site for a while - it’s amazing how life gets is the way!  Of course, even when I’m away I think about it, check in on it on the good ol’ Blackberry, just to make sure it’s being well cared for.  Now that life has slowed down a bit and I’m able to spend some time, I’m excited about all of the new work out there to read, and the new contest is an excellent idea!  Can’t wait for the next one grin

I hope you all are well.  Don - I look forward to some work being pushed my way wink

Thanks Star for noticing this thread - I’m up for the challenge, but I promise I won’t post all 100 posts.

Did anybody say.... Fridge Magnets?

Julia actually bought me a bunch of promotional stuff including fridge magnets around the time Issue 4 came out.  If you order a copy of the magazine, I usually send some stuff in it that you can use to help promote Litmocracy.

Prometheus wrote some good copy to advertise Issue 11 and I made a flyer out of it.  I bought 1000 flyers for $125.  There is a print-ready PDF here (colors are CMYK instead of RGB) if you’d like to print some and hand them out.

I’m going back to Cambodia to teach something or other in a few days so won’t be around (ie. in Canada)… I suppose this doesn’t make much difference to people who are not literally here in this house in Canada, actually, in this here technologically exciting day and age.  However
Litmocracy is my favorite site in the whole wide world and I don’t want to lose touch.  Sorry for having been so spotty over the last few months.  It’s been kind of hairy arranging things and deciding stuff.  Anyway, most likely I’ll be in Cambodia next time you hear from me.

It would be fun to write some kind of column or something about Cambodia… maybe can send Cambodian fridge magnets.  If anyone has any questions about Cambodia that you could only answer by being there (eg. how does the fish paste smell?), let me know!

Cheers!

Cambodia rocks. I want Cambodia fridge magnets that smell like fish paste (what DOES that smell like Julianyway?).

Dave -> I LOVE the flyer. It’s awesome. I’m gonna post it all over. And then I’ll put one on my fridge and use my Cambodia fish magnets to hold it.

Yeah. Love it.

Ok gang,

Jan 1st is fast approaching and I’d really hate to have thrown a challenge out there that will not be met. I DID say write anything, right?? Reading all the great new submissions out there, I can’t believe that no one has 2 or 3 words to add to this post. Mind you my total post count is going to go up exponentially if I keep writing to myself on here....

Come on Litmocrats, POST!!!

- Star

Another way to help get people back here is by commenting on existing posts (everyone else who has commented get’s notified) and existing forum posts.  In fact, that’s what usually brings me back too.  If we all do some of that, we’ll get something started.
