Dear Litmocracy Member,
This newsletter is to let you know about some recent changes.
Comments in Literal Translations
The publication deadline is fast approaching - the magazine is scheduled to go to the printer on the 17th of December. Comments often find their way into the magazine, so if you would like to comment on any of the pieces or vote on existing comments, please visit the category archive and check them out. You’ll find the Issue 4 category near the bottom.
Know PHP?
Litmocracy has work available for PHP coders interested in earning experience or money. Among the exciting projects are:
1) Automate the process I go through with each piece that gets selected into Literal Translations.
2) Automate the creation and sending of the weekly newsletter. This will include an introduction to the first-place piece in each category, as well as tidbits of news from myself and other members.
3) Adding some snazzy Javascript widgets to make voting easier.
4) Write a PHP page to aid in the creation of the Word document that becomes the published magazine. Winonw is doing this work by hand currently, and our debt to her grows and grows…
5) Set up voting links in emails for interested members - you’d get an email with two complete submissions in it along with links to let you indicate which you like better.
Posting Requirements
Cyber is working on another version of the header that should make it a lot easier to get to where you want to go on the site. In this new header, the posting link will explain some new posting requirements in preparation for the onslaught of great writers which I’ve seen on the horizon. Those who vote regularly will never see these rules because they’re only presented when they’re stopping you from posting, so here’s the skinny:
There are two requirements to posting:
1) You must earn at least 5 Brain Points in the category to which you wish to post.
2) Since your last post, across all categories, one of the following must happen:
——A) You earn at least 15 Brain Points.
——B) Other members earn at least 45 Brain Points. After filling these requirements, links will appear for categories to which you can post.
We have lost one of our own
We have lost one of our members to illness in Canada. Coquihalla is survived by her daughter Winona who takes care of a lot of the things we do around here. I only knew Coquihalla through a few comments here and there, and the excellent job she did with at least one of her kids. May she rest in peace.
