Shoal
Category: Issue 3
Nice Boo!
Did you intend to show anger, curiosity, blindness, death, sternness, sadness, sleepiness, romance, craziness, exasperation, etc. in these fish?
I intend to come back and look some more from time to time. If there’s anything people can buy with this print on it, I’ll advertise it in Literal Translations. If not, how do you feel about me making a CafePress store to sell clothing with it? Or you might want to set one up yourself. I’d love to help if you want.
I love it. To me, the impression of this shoal of fisheyes is sligthly threathening, menacing…they are peering at you broodingly, inquisitive…dark and gloomy….something’s fishy about this shoal….
Thanks Dave, LaMa.
Dave, the outlines were done first, and the attitude of the eye sort of came out of the shape. So, yes, the eyes are meant to show emotions. Sort of.

Oh, and I’m in the process of setting up a Cafepress shop at the moment. I’m slowly getting the hang of it.
The expressions (and their range) are disturbing, which is absolutely great. Nice and loose coherence between fish and eye at the same time, very natural. It really suggests motion. I definitely won’t forget it.
