I started playing with this idea (http://litmocracy.com/ee/index.php/weblog/winners) but started wondering about something.

What I would put in the spotlight is the current winners from the four paying categories.  They are already presented on the main page, so what is the difference between the main page and the spotlight?  I’m guessing it’s the intrusion of the Latest News.

So suppose I moved the news to the bottom of the page and changed the title as described below.  Would that pretty much provide what you’re looking for?

Another thought I had, since you mentioned “a favorite of mine” is that I could add a setting for members so they can then put a link to their favorite post in their profile, and at the bottom of each of their posts, there’d be another link to “{name}‘s favorite”.  Then everyone would get a spotlight.  If that’s what you were after, let me know and I’ll see about adding it.

Anyway, here’s the way I imagine changing the index page.  As second-place suggestion, it’ll get implemented as soon as you give the OK.  Otherwise, please advise.

This is the best stuff we’ve come up with that isn’t yet scheduled for publication in Literal Translations.  Can you beat it?
