The Religion of Love

This is interesting, because I’ve found moments of absolute inspiration and Belief in my life, absolute certainty, the sureness of which can last for even a whole year at a time (and eventually, maybe, forever). In these moments, I was In Tune with the Universe, only to be followed by nothing whatsoever for a few years. The Cold Altar.
But it comes back. And then it goes away again.
And then it comes back.
I don’t know if that’s what you were referring to, but to me, the Cold Altar is that, is the place where it’s either there or it’s not.
You have to keep going back, to see if it (God)(not the guy in the jump-suit) has returned.
Nice piece of work, *I* think.
Thanks for the compliment Julianyway!
It’s a poem about loving when your lover may have grown cold. There is still that hope that things will change. The altar is cold because her love is missing. But when you love (obsess??) you’ll keep coming back. It is almost pathetic, but that is love sometimes. The questions we ask ourselves (true devotion or habit?) are what makes it religious to me. The faith aspect that sustains the willingness to love.
Like you said, we just keep going back for more! ![]()
