Too Late
Category: Issue 1, Poetry/Lyrics WinnersI once knew a girl,
Who seemed to love to cry.
She used to pray to God,
That the next day she would die.
She sat all alone,
She had not one friend.
No one to love her,
To lend a helping hand.
She’d sit in her room,
And cut ‘til she bled.
No one ever loved her,
So nothing was ever said.
She hurt herself everyday,
To let out anger and hate.
I saw her face today on the news,
I should’ve helped her,
I was too late.
Ahem…Excellent words…
Michelle…
But we did love her, and now she’s married and helping homeless people in San Diego. Her hubby went through AA. They almost lost each other while she stayed with us for a year in a condo near UCSD. Michelle and I were both in the teaching program there. I don’t know if she finished. I didn’t because the red-tape got me down too much. I went into software instead.
Thanks for reminding me of her.
Very sad, but all too common a story I guess. Don’t know much about poetry but it flowed nicely and clearly. No mistaking the feelings which are embedded in it.
