You can't understand the present if you
don't understand the past...
Illuminating anniversaries of this week:
October 26- In 1776, Benjamin Franklin heads
for France to enlist its support for the American
revolutionaries. In 1825, the Erie Canal opens between Lake
Erie and Albany, New York. In 1881, there is a gunfight at the
O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. In 1947, Britain removes the
last of its military forces from Iraq, 15 years after granting
the country "independence". In 1977, the last
naturally-contracted case of smallpox is diagnosed, causing this
date to be described as the anniversary of the eradication of
this horrific killer (estimated death toll during the 20th
century: 300 - 500 million). However, the United States
military establishment (and possibly its Russian counterpart)
have maintained live cultures of the virus to this day. In
2001, the USA PATRIOT Act is signed into law by George W. Bush.
Anniversaries of interest for
each day of this week will be found throughout the newsletter
below.

"It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an
irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds
of men."
-Samuel Adams

"I originally read CtC sometime in
2011..."
New victories over the tax scam and in the hearts
and minds of upstanding, rule-of-law-respecting grown-up
American men and women.
|
...At the time I was fighting foreclosure
of my house and also several creditors. My business had
failed, and I was too overwhelmed to act on it at that
time. I had been learning the truth about taxation, so I was convinced there
was a solution for me, but had my hands full at the
moment.
In April 2014, tired of fighting with the
bank over my home, I signed up with a broker to do a
short sale. This gave me some free time to go back and
pick up CtC again. I knew I had overpaid in 2010 and
had been praying for a solution.
|
RB certainly HAD overpaid, having let a
conventional "tax preparer" calculate his liability. He had been
led to send in more than $34,000 as tax on his earnings, and the
IRS was happy to take his money, even though, as it turned out,
RB actually owed $0 on these non-federally-connected receipts.
|
After reviewing the
book, and going through the success stories on the
website, I went online and created my 1040x and
[California] 540x with rebuttals and cover letters in
about 3 hours.
I felt very fortunate that I still had
enough time to file my amended return for 2010 since
I filed the extension and didn't file the original
return until Oct 2011. On [the IRS] website they mention
the refund process takes 8 - 12 weeks. I called them at
the 12 week point, and they told me it was still in
process and to give them another 4 - 8 weeks.
I finally received the refund on or about
Oct 17, 2014:

[Click
here to see the forms
filed to secure this complete refund, and
here to see the fussing the IRS did with RB's claim
before adding on the $3,428.61 it owed him in interest
and issuing the check.]
This check is a God send, and I am
telling all my friends and family about CtC and lost
horizons.
Thanks again Pete!
RB
|
RB's complete refund is an uplifting victory in
enforcing the rule of law by insisting that his servant
government apply the tax laws as written, instead of as the
government would rather misapply them.
It joins
the thousand or so examples of the tens of thousands of
other such victories by
CtC-educated American grown-ups which have been celebrated
on this site since they began accumulating in 2003.

I WANT TO SHARE ANOTHER UPLIFTING STORY THIS WEEK,
also of a complete victory over the tax scam. This one just
hasn't yet produced a refund.
|
Hi Pete,
I want to say THANK YOU for your work,
including the losthorizons website, and the information
copies provided by others who filed educated returns. We
filed our first educated return this week, requesting
refunds of all withheld FIT, SIT, social security and
Medicare.
For months I had stressed about doing this
but when the time came that I had to do it, the forms
were so easy to complete. I used the online fillable
forms which made for nice clean copies. Now to wait
patiently for the refunds/response... and sending copies
for you to post on the website.
I also want to thank you for organizing the
July Symposium. There I heard many unfamiliar concepts
and realized I needed to learn about the founding of
America and the Constitution. ... I also started reading
the Bible and every day I look forward to reading from
both the Old and New Testaments. It actually makes sense
to me!
Early every morning my husband and I sit at
the kitchen table, reading to each other and discussing
what we are learning. Although he retired from the Navy
and knew much of the basics, he also gained significant
knowledge about the current state of our country.
Now I understand why I always felt so much
frustration, and had a sense that I was being deceived
in some way - even as a very small child I felt this. I
have now been able to forgive my parents because I
realize they were under the same 'spells of deceit' and
didn't know the truth of what was going on in the
country, they were just following along and trying to do
their best.
This has been a very interesting and
satisfying summer. I am so very grateful to you because
your efforts led to me clicking on a tiny image of CtC
on the internet (facebook possibly), and now I am
finding peace and purpose and meaning of life that I
have been searching for so many years.
With love,
Lori B

Don't you wish everyone would?
Don't you wish every wanna-be "tax honesty guru",

Whiskey and Car Keys
"You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
-Rahm Emmanuel
PATRIOT, JOURNALIST AND POSSIBLY
SOON-TO-BE-POLITICAL-PRISONER JAMES RISEN makes an
insightful observation about the growth of a massive,
affluent and influential community of perpetual-war
beneficiaries in his brand new book, Pay Any Price:
Greed, Power and Endless War. Risen recognizes that State spending of other people's money
is like spreading weed fertilizer over the fruited plain.
For
[especially] the last 13 years, cash has sloshed from
Washington into the pockets of any slick hack claiming to
offer "security" products or services. Just as is the case
with every other bucket of pork slopped into the trough, a
good bit is then spent back into Mordor-on-the-Potomac to
keep the pump-primers in office and the "security hysteria"
gravy-train well-oiled and topped-off with fuel.
Endless war is endless
good times for this crew, and as time goes on and more of
everyone else's money flows their way, they become more
deeply-entrenched and better able to control the process. In
time (like, by now) the only thing that will root them out is
to shut off the money going into the mitts of their generous
patrons.
Risen shines a nice light on this symbiotic
relationship of two species of parasites helping each other
feed off the rest of us, and it's an important light.
Endless war means endless bleeding of you and I, and if it
isn't stopped it will be the death of us.
SPEAKING OF ENDLESS BLEEDING, the latest
"security theater" production-- the Ebola Crisis-- enjoys a
little disturbing illumination from the back-splash of
Risen's spot-light.
I am not one to argue that the recent outbreak
of Ebola is deliberate
hobgoblin-flogging, and I am certainly not disputing the
seriousness of this disease or of its presence in America
(or anywhere else, for that matter). But I can't deny that I
find the character of Leviathan's reaction to the situation
unsettling.
I can't believe that any official responsible
for international flight policies made a good-faith decision
that, on balance, the best interests of Americans required
continuing flights from afflicted areas of Africa into the
USA.
I can't believe that any official responsible
for choosing and articulating the most prudent
practices in the face of this disease came to a good-faith
conclusion that the virus simply couldn't be transmitted in
any way except by gross fluid exchange (instead of by
sneeze, cough, or simple miasma). Nor can I believe in a
good-faith conclusion that whatever the manner of
transmission, it is simply impossible during the time
between the introduction of the virus into a host and its
multiplication and entrenchment to the point of showing what
are currently recognized as symptoms of its infestation.
No one in his or her right mind would
call things this way-- or wouldn't if he or she was going to
be sitting on a flight from Liberia for 6 or 7 hours the
next day. But as conspiratorial-minded as it may make me
look, I think someone who recognizes that his or her power
and importance wax and wane as does public resort to the
State as savior from a crisis might do so...
At the least, such a person faces perverse
incentives, since keeping a crisis from arising in the first
place by deployment of common-sense policies,
or ending it as quickly as possible,
is unrewarding in some senses of the word. Ugly as it is to
say so, when money and power accompany a crisis, those to
whom they flow may not view the eruption or perpetuation of
the crisis in the same way the rest of us do.
OF COURSE, I MAY HAVE THIS ALL WRONG. The
idiotic decisions in response to the Ebola outbreak might be
the products of simple incompetence.
But I'd be more able to come to a conclusion
about mere incompetence versus calculated incompetence if
Washington didn't have $3.8 trillion to lavish on whatever
institutional entity succeeds in positioning itself as our
savior from some crisis de jour--
whether a genuine crisis, a manufactured one, or one simply
made into more than it should be by those who benefit
thereby.
P. J. O'ROURKE ONCE OFFERED THE PITHY ANALOGY that "Giving
money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car
keys to teenage boys." The wisdom informing this witticism
is manifest in both the Ebola crisis of the day and the
"terrorism" crisis of the decade.
Those who govern are inherently irresponsible. It is the whole
character of government to excuse from personal
responsibility those who operate the levers of power-- the
worst that can happen to them is to lose office and thus
have the gravy-train ride end earlier than it otherwise
might. At the same time, the opportunities for personal
aggrandizement and enrichment are endless, as long as the
American people keep shoveling our money into their hands.
Our Constitutions are meant to be governors on the "car",
keeping us on the road and moving at no more than a prudent
speed. Unfortunately, "the boys" have found workarounds, and
it may be awhile before us grown-ups restore that safety
feature to full working order.
In
the meantime, though, don't you think we should cut off the
booze?
"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep
the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to
safety) by menacing it with an endless series of
hobgoblins..."
-H. L. Mencken

A teacher asked
her 6th grade class how many of them were fans of Big Government.
Not really knowing what a Big Government fan is, but wanting to be liked by
the
teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little TJ.
The teacher asked Little TJ why he has decided to be different...again.
Little TJ said, "Because I'm not a fan of Big Government."
The teacher asked, "Why aren't you a fan of Big Government?"
Little TJ said, "Because I'm a libertarian."
The teacher asked him why he's a libertarian. Little TJ answered, "Well,
my Dad's a libertarian and my Mom's a libertarian, so I'm a libertarian."
Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, "If your dad were a moron and
your mom were an idiot, what would that make you?"
With a big smile, Little TJ replied, "That would make me a fan of Big
Government."

THIS WEEK'S RECOMMENDED READING:
A Sense of Others
by Theodore Dalrymple
Recently I violated my self-imposed code of conduct by
appearing on television. It was for a so-called discussion program
on which one of the subjects was the overdiagnosis of depression as
a medical condition. Of course I knew the futility of such programs,
in which a serious subject is discussed by four people (plus the
presenter) for a maximum of 10 minutes, so that there can be no
consecutive argumentation but only a kind of fruit salad of opinion,
with facts thrown in like the chopped basil that is now fashionable
in such salad. The question is not who is right, but whose sound
bite is best.
My opinion is that depression has been trivialized. It
is a long time since I have heard anyone admit to being unhappy
rather than depressed, as if not to be happy were in itself
pathological, and the normal state of man were contentment; and thus
we medicalize life until the world is a great hospital and life
itself a medical procedure, to the detriment of our character and
the weakening of our understanding.
“So I suppose you think that people ought to pull
themselves together,” one of the guests replied (more or less).
Now I had never denied that some people cannot get
better by the mere exercise of their own will, determination, and
intelligence; but when they can and when they can’t is a matter of
judgment. What I found most interesting about the guest’s remark,
however, was the cultural shift that it implied, for the notion of
pulling yourself together is apparently now applied only in the
context of ridicule. A person who calls upon another to pull himself
together is thereby showing himself to be a crude, and possibly a
vindictive and cruel, person, a kind of psychological primitive
whose geographical equivalent would be someone who believed that the
earth was flat.

Even as ardent a statist as Abraham
Lincoln, in announcing his willingness to burn the Southern states to the ground in order to
keep them paying the tariff for the benefit of Northern interests in
his first inaugural address on March 4, 1861, paid at least lip
service to the Founders design of leaving control over the fuel
available to feed the fires Washington wants to light in the hands
of the individual citizenry when he said, "Doing this I deem to
be only a simple duty on my part; and I shall perform it, unless my
rightful masters, the American people, shall withhold the requisite
means..."

This And That
See this one; the benefits of the minimum wages begin
to appear; Obamacare is back in the news; more...
CITIZENFOUR, THE NEW DOCUMENTARY ABOUT EDWARD SNOWDEN
by Laura Poitras opened in select theaters October 24. If it's in
your area already, see it. If it's not, call your favorite local
theater and demand it.
Please don't ever forget: If you don't celebrate and
support those who act on your behalf even at great personal expense,
pretty soon none will.
***
THAT MINIMUM-WAGE MIRACLE HAS BEGUN TO BEAR FRUIT: McDonald's
has begun rolling out automated replacements for human cashiers. The
mechanical substitutes for increasingly-expensive human workers are
being
tested for the US market in the company's wholly-owned
Romeoville, Illinois location, even while being already rolled out
in a big way across Europe.
Panera Bread has
already begun the automating process, and Chili's and Applebee's
have done the same, coyly starting out with only some kinds of
ordering being possible with their table-mounted ordering machines,
but with the handwriting on the wall. This by itself tells all
anyone really needs to know about minimum-wage lunacy, but those
who want to learn more can click
here.

HEY, IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN-- well, not really...
On November 15 another "Obamacare enrollment" window opens. Somehow
this year's enrollment period isn't 12 months after the last one, as
is the case for every other scheduled event of this kind throughout
all of time. Instead, this enrollment window opens 13 months after
the last one.
We are assured by administration spokespeople that this
weird timing is NOT because it pushes this reminder of a statist
offense loathed by huge percentage of the American people past the
upcoming elections... Right. I'll buy that when these same folks
admit the truth about the
limited application of the 'Obamacare' mandate...

What Do The People Do About The Rogue State??
The
most important question facing Americans today
I HAD THIS QUESTION POSED TO ME BY AN EMAIL CORRESPONDENT the other
day. I guess this just shows how poor a job I've done at
communicating, because I have been trying to shout the answer to
this one from the rooftops for a long time.
That answer is simple: The People impose restraint on the rogue
state by choosing-- one by one-- to cease voluntarily turning
control over their resources to the state, and choosing instead to
retain control over those resources. This is done by refusing-- one
by one-- to engage in "income tax" excisable activities (and
refusing to blindly or fearfully allow their activities to be
treated or taken as excisable activities upon which the tax arises,
when they really are not).
The refusal of individual Americans to voluntarily engage in
excisable activities forces the state to resort to
highly-politically-accountable, highly-politically-vulnerable
alternatives revenue sources. These include options like direct,
apportioned taxes (which will not be tolerated by the people or
approved by Congress at $multi-trillion annual volumes), and/or
increased revenue tariffs (which can raise amounts adequate for
legitimate state needs, but are very self-regulating, since
consumers naturally choose domestic product alternatives when higher
tariffs raise the prices of imports beyond a certain point).
This solution is precisely the one intended and provided for by the
Founders-- who didn't impose the taxation rules in the US
Constitution just so they could admire their handwriting. They put
those rules in place in direct anticipation of state behavior of the
sort with which we are now plagued.
As even so odious a character as Hamilton pointed out in Federalist
#21:
“Imposts, excises, and, in general, all duties upon articles
of consumption, may be compared to a fluid, which will, in time,
find its level with the means of paying them. The amount to be
contributed by each citizen will in a degree be at his own
option, and can be regulated by an attention to his resources.
...If duties are too high, they lessen the consumption; the
collection is eluded; and the product to the treasury is not so
great as when they are confined within proper and moderate
bounds. This forms a complete barrier against any material
oppression of the citizens by taxes of this class, and is itself
a natural limitation of the power of imposing them.”
What we've got today is simply the direct (and perfectly
predictable) consequences of NOT adhering to the Founders' plan. As
Frederick Douglass trenchantly observed,
“Find out just what any people
will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the
injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them."
We've got plenty of injustice and wrong these days. But our fix to
the problem was bought for us with blood a few hundred years ago.
All we have to do is stop playing along with the rogue state's
false (and rather embarrassingly crude) paradigm concerning
who owns what, and what powers to tax have really been granted.
As soon as enough of us quit endorsing that nonsense,
it's all
good.

Katie's Corner
Politics v. Principles
by Katie Hendrickson
AN INTERESTING THING HAS HAPPENED in
Michigan’s 11th Congressional District this election
season. The Republican Party put forth a primary
opponent against their own current Congressman. The
opponent is David Trott, a foreclosure lawyer who dumped
approximately $2 million of his own money into his
primary campaign. The current officeholder is Kerry
Bentivolio, a former educator and current reindeer
farmer who raised a little under $200,000 for his own
campaign. As one can imagine, Trott won the primary.
However, Bentivolio is carrying out a
write-in campaign. Now, many Republicans have been
decrying the Representative’s action as a tragedy. They
complain that it will surely split the vote on the
Republican side and allow the Democratic candidate to
win, and is nothing more than the desperate floundering
of a sore loser.
BUT THERE'S MORE TO THIS STORY than just
the ambitions and interests of two candidates. Like
several other Republican office-holders betrayed by
their own party during this election cycle (such as
Walter Jones in Virginia and Justin Amash in Western
Michigan) the Trott-Bentivolio battle features an attack
by the Republican Party establishment against one of the
few Republican office-holders who actually adheres to
the party's written platform, unlike those better-liked
by leadership, who are much less likely to do so, and
more likely to support the status quo, instead.
Let’s take a look at some of the statements
found in the Republican Party Platform, followed by some
of the Bills, Resolutions, and Amendments that
Congressman Bentivolio has put forth during his time in
office thus far.
GOP Platform: “We will serve as
aggressive advocates for small businesses.”
GOP Platform: “We are committed to ending
homelessness for our veterans. One key is to assist
their reentry into the job market as soon as possible
after military service ends. A job for a veteran is more
than a source of income. It is a new mission, with a new
status, and the transition can be difficult. It is a
national scandal that veterans are one of the groups
with the highest unemployment rates. We urge the private
sector to make hiring vets a company policy and commend
the many organizations that have specific programs to
accomplish this. But the federal government must take
the lead by simplifying the paper work required for a
tax break for hiring a veteran and by giving vets their
assured place at the head of the training and employment
line.”
GOP Platform: “That is why we strongly
support the work of the U.S. Commission on International
Religious Freedom, established by Congressional
Republicans to advance the rights of persecuted peoples
everywhere.”
GOP Platform: “Foreign aid should serve
our national interest, an essential part of which is the
peaceful development of less advanced and vulnerable
societies in critical parts of the world.”
GOP Platform: “Republican Members of
Congress have repeatedly tried to reform the budget
process to make it more transparent and accountable…”
GOP Platform: “…we…welcome to our ranks
all our fellow citizens who are determined to reclaim
the rights of the people that have been ignored or
violated by government.”
GOP Platform: “We reject the use of
taxation to redistribute income, fund unnecessary or
ineffective programs, or foster the crony capitalism
that corrupts both politicians and corporations.”
GOP Platform: “Today’s education reform
movement calls for accountability at every stage of
schooling. It affirms higher expectations for all
students and rejects the crippling bigotry of low
expectations. It recognizes the wisdom of State and
local control of our schools, and it wisely sees
consumer rights in education – choice – as the most
important driving force for renewing our schools.”
GOP Platform: “We will ensure that
personal data receives full constitutional protection
from government overreach and that individuals retain
the right to control the use of their data by third
parties; the only way to safeguard or improve these
systems is through the private sector.”
Quite an impressive résumé, and these are
only the bills Bentivolio himself put forth, not even
including those he cosponsored. Furthermore, Bentivolio
has received many awards from conservative
organizations, among them the National Federation of
Independent Business’ “Guardian of Small Business,” the
National Taxpayer’s Union’s “Taxpayers’ Friend Award,”
and was offered the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s “Spirit
of Enterprise Award,” but turned it down due to the
Chamber’s endorsement of Trott. Still, all of these
awards, accepted and refused, are in line with the
Republican Party Platform.
And yet, the Republican Party was still
dissatisfied enough with his performance in Congress to
run someone against him in the primary. At this point,
one has to wonder: is it possible the Party leadership
is more concerned with politics than principles? It
would appear so, which is an unfortunate thing indeed
considering how much power they have these days.
But from where do these folks gain such
power? From us. We are perfectly capable of taking that
power away; all we need to do is vote against them.

A grass-roots rally against Republican
Leadership supported David Trott and for Kerry
Bentivoloi's write-in candidacy, on October 22 in front
of Trott's Birmingham, Michigan office.
Yes, it’s possible-- probable even-- that
at least in Michigan's 11th District, that means the
Democrat would win. But which is worse: having a
Democrat represent this district for the next two years,
or showing the major parties that they can disregard not
only the will of their constituents, but even their own
platforms, in favor of bought-out puppets to prop up
their favorite bills and contributors?
WE ARE AT A CRUCIAL POINT THIS ELECTION.
42% of voters in the U.S. now identify as Independent.
The two-party system is failing, but if we don’t show
them our dissatisfaction in more than just poll results,
they’ll keep floating along on the status quo we so
kindly carry for them, like a litter on the backs of
willing slaves.
We must act now. A vote for a third-party
or independent candidate is not a wasted vote, but
voting against one’s own principles is. Show the major
parties that we are not blind to their hypocrisy. Show
them we will not uphold the status quo any longer. Show
them we are awake.
VOTE. THEM. OUT.

An Introduction To The Liberating Truth In Ten Easy Segments
Tom Bottaro,
ChFC,
CtCW, author of 'Secrets
of the Income Tax Code- A Guide for Businessmen',
has shared another fine outreach effort. Tom has been writing and
sending a series of short wake-up and educational essays to friends
and family, one by one, for some time. When Tom told me about this,
I asked him to compile the pieces and let me post them for everyone
to enjoy and share with their own people. Tom, good guy and warrior
for the truth that he is, was perfectly agreeable.
Here
is the compilation in printable .pdf format. I hope everyone
will indeed share it widely.

If You're Not Standing Up, Then You're Standing Down
...and "standing down" means "going down"...
MY FRIENDS, IT IS MY SINCERE BELIEF that this community of
activists has been encouraged, inspired, enlightened and
expanded over the years by the steady posting here of
your ongoing victories on behalf of the rule of law.
Certainly, it has been my pride and my joy to help you share
with the world your honorable testament to the liberating truth
about the tax, widespread knowledge of which is so critical to
the well-being of ourselves, our children, and our beloved
America.
However, unless YOU send those victories I can't post them.
Unless YOU stand up, your courage and commitment can't inspire
anyone.
YOU WILL RECALL THAT FOR THE LAST YEAR OR SO I've been telling
you that we are in a transformational moment. Look around at
what is going on today and recognize the truth of what I say.
More than half the American population views government as a
threat. As mainstream a publication as Forbes magazine is
posting
articles about massive DHS ammunition and armored vehicle
purchases. Denunciations of the NSA violations are features
in every major MSM organ.
Even before Edward Snowden's documentation of particular crimes
being committed against the American people the
LA Times,
NY Times,
Washington Times and other mainstream organs were
editorializing about Leviathan having grown too big, and gotten
dangerously out-of-hand (see stories at each of the preceding
links). In the Spring Rand Paul's filibuster denouncing the
lawlessness of Mordor-on-the-Potomac prompted a major buzz
across the country, and in July Justin Amash shocked Washington
by very nearly defunding a huge portion of the illegal
surveillance state's crimes.
Concurrently, this
CtC community has been winning legal victories and refunds
which are ever-more significant and telling. Consider, for
instance, the victories which have qualified for
the EWWBL collection. Every one of these is an especially
illuminating acknowledgement of the truth about the tax, and now
include a very significant two-time victory in a federal
district court.
Things are happening!
HOW IT ALL SHAKES OUT is still up for grabs, though. This is not
the time for either complacency or paralysis, because both of
those don't amount to "doing nothing"-- instead they amount to
"standing down". And standing down means conceding the fight,
letting all these eleventh-hour sparks of light burn out
unnurtured and the moment be a transformation for the worse.
This is not the time for standing down. This is the time for a
FULL-COURT PRESS.
This is the time for educated American grown-ups to stand up
tall and firm, pulling others to their feet by their very
gravity. This is the time for leading the way.
STAND UP! SEND THOSE VICTORIES-- the new ones, and those of the
last few years as well. Click
here to learn how. Even if you don't have checks to scan,
send your testimonials. Learn how to do that

About The Author
Pete Hendrickson is possibly the
most effective lawyer in history, even while never having
set foot in a law school, nor ever being a card-carrying
member of "the bar". He is the first American in history to
secure a complete refund of Social Security and Medicare
‘contributions’ withheld from his earnings (along with all
other property taken for federal taxes); further, since 2003
students of his legal analyses and arguments in ‘Cracking
the Code- The Fascinating Truth About Taxation In America’
(CtC), and its sequel, 'Was
Grandpa Really a Moron?' have been routinely
retaining and recovering billions of dollars which
otherwise-- wrongly, but as a matter of course-- would have
gone to federal or state government treasuries. This despite
concerted efforts by government to suppress his work,
and in some cases
vigorously oppose the claims by
his students.
Hendrickson is also a widely-read essayist on matters of
politics, public policy and law; many of these works are
collected in his second book, ‘Upholding
the Law And Other Observations’. He is a member of
Mensa; an
award-winning artist; and has paid his dues as a youth
soccer coach. He is a long-time political activist as
well, and has served as co-chair and platform convention
delegate of Michigan’s largest county Libertarian Party
organization; as a consultant to the National Right to Work
Foundation and Citizens for a Sound Economy; as a member of the
Heartland Institute; and as a member of the International
Society for Individual Liberty. He is a frequent
radio-show guest on stations across the country.
Hendrickson's business career has included nearly a
decade-and-a-half at the leading edge of the renewable-energy
industry, both as Director of Purchasing and Materials
Management and member of the R&D board at Starpak Energy
Systems, the mid-west's then-largest solar heating and
energy-recovery-and re-utilization company; and as founder and
president of AFJ Inc., a high-efficiency lighting design,
manufacture and installation firm.
Beginning in the mid-1990s and continuing for the twelve years
before his present full-time focus on the restoration of the
rule of law in America, Hendrickson directed purchasing
activities for the $84 million-a-year multi-family-housing
division of the Farmington Hills, Michigan branch of Edward Rose
and Sons, with responsibility for 18,000+ apartments, direct
supervision of 35 technicians and agents, and incidental
authority over several hundred divisional workers. He also
ran the division's 10 cable television earth-station and
distribution systems in four states, and designed and
administered the company's website.
On
rather the other end of the spectrum, amidst these more mundane
pursuits Hendrickson co-founded and was the primary creative
force behind a small
board- and
card-game company that enjoyed a modest success for several
years.
Hendrickson makes his home in southeast Michigan, with his wife
and two children. He is currently working on his next
book.
