Tribute
Category: Poetry/LyricsYou’re bored and bruised and stubborn-
clining to life like a limpet
because men like you love forever
and never learn.
I pushed this scrap of honesty
past the mask
and your mouth became a smoking
bullet hole
in the steel road sign of your face.
That was my tribute to you.
That, plus the taste on my tongue
when my mouth smokes like the barrel of a gun.
