JEALOUSY

Category: Issue 10

Jealousy

As a young child
I knew him all too well,
every eye I cast
upon my loves,
he stole
and loosed
his wicked snicker,
leaving me to dwell
on what I
had done
wrong.

As a grown child,
I hid
his wriggling form
twixt my folds
of smiles and
lies,
a clever act
that my immaturity could
never hold.

As an ancient child,
I see him about,
playing with the
younglings,
tweaking their hot hearts
as he taunts me from afar,
my passions all lost
to frailty,
I whisper his name,
wishing
I had
cause for him
to call.

He abstains.
